This post comes up with an inspiring excerpt from the book “Sri Sarada Devi and Her Divine Play” by Swami Chetanananda* and a poem below named “Fulfil Your Promise Mother” which I wrote for Mother.
Hope you like it.
One day she said to me in the course of the conversation: “Whenever the thought of a disciple comes to my mind and I yearn to see him, then he either comes here or writes a letter to me. You must have come here prompted by a certain feeling. Perhaps you have in your mind the thought of the Divine Mother of the Universe.”
“Are you the Mother of all?” I asked.
Mother replied, “Yes.”
“Even of the subhuman beings – birds and animals?”
“Yes, of these also.”
“Then why should they suffer so much?”
“In this birth they must have these experiences.”
*Chapter 25: Mother of All
Fulfil Your Promise Mother
Ah! Which flowers do I offer unto you?
Away from you, they have lost all their nectar and withered away in agony.
What incense do I offer for your worship?
In torment of separation, they have all lost their holiness and sacred fragrance!
What candles will I lit for you Mother?
Alas! they have all lost their light and warmth.
As I sketch your portrait in all vagueness, you see through in silence; and admire and adore quietly, the songs I sing in your praise.
Seems you love to play through me in pain and pleasure and weep and smile alike!
Mother, I am all draped with the colour of this world, my heart is stained all black, and has turned dark in entirety,
It is time, to cleanse it Mother, and draw me to your lap,
It is time, you fulfil your promise!
