Inspirational Sayings of Swami Vivekananda on National Youth Day, 2018

8th of January marked the auspicious occasion of the 156th birthday (tithi) of the great religious reformer; Swami Vivekananda. As per English calendar, his birthday is on 12th of January, which is celebrated throughout the country as the National Youth Day since 1985. The eternal teachings of Swami Vivekananda have inspired millions of us and to commemorate this, his birthday was declared as the National Youth Day in 1984 by the Government of India. The celebration of the National Youth Day encourages the youth throughout the country to follow and apply the ideology preached by Swami Vivekananda in their lives.

With great fervor, this day is celebrated in educational and cultural institutions throughout the entire country, and also at

centers of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

On the eve of this year’s event, let us take a look into some of his eternal and inspirational teachings. The very intention of this compilation is to inspire you; to present a glimpse to you, about this great teacher and philosopher.

We can keep going forever sharing such innumerable ideas from his priceless teachings. The teachings are invaluable to the spiritual seeker. They also inspire the young and the old alike who are actively engaged in materialistic pursuits. But only knowing and reading them won’t be of much help. Let us rather try to imbibe his philosophy in our daily lives and march fearlessly towards our individual and collective goals.
